Personal Shopper: White Dress for Rehearsal Dinner

Reader Request (this one comes from a real-life friend - I'm so excited!)

I bought this dress for my rehearsal dinner dress. It was cheap, cute, and had pockets. Also, it was early summer when I bought it. Now it is after Labor Day, and I have a white dress - my grandmom would not approve. Also, our rehearsal dinner is going to be at a camp and BBQ in October...and I have a shiny white dress. Also, the dress seems boring now. And really effing white. Is there any possible way to make this dress 1) cooler and 2) more fall appropriate?

I think the no white after Labor Day rule is outdated. There are definitely ways to rock white in the colder months. But to be honest, I think that the dress is probably too shiny and summery for a casual fall BBQ. If I were you, I'd wear it to your bachelorette party instead. But that's not what you asked me for, is it? So I'll try my best to "fall-ify" the dress for you. The good news is that you can wear all of these items with jeans or other bottoms for a more casual look later on!
