Personal Shopper: Job Interview

Reader Request

I've been working in pharmaceutical marketing for the past four years, and as I'm sure you can imagine, the dress code is pretty drab. I have an interview next week for my dream job (marketing for a fashion brand in NYC) and I have no idea what to wear. My professional wardrobe of dark pants, button-down tops and sensible heels, but that's not really me at all. And everything else I have is more appropriate for evening or weekend, not the office. So, I'm at a loss. Can you help me with an outfit that's professional but fashionable and fun?

I feel your pain - I've been interviewing as well and finding a professional-yet-stylish outfit for a creative interview is sometimes challenging. But this look will really make an impression. It's got a lot going on with the plaid, lace, and leopard, but by keeping almost everything in black and white (and adding just a tiny pop of color with the pink belt), it's subtle instead of busy. Good luck!
