Last Friday was the final episode of
All My Children. I started watching
AMC when I was still in high school (when my fellow student
Kelly Ripa, who was a senior at my school when I was a freshman, won a role on the show), and I got sucked in for years and years. I taped it every day in high school, watched it almost every day in college, and watched it every afternoon when I bartended and waited tables for a living. I stopped watching about fifteen years ago when I finally got a 9-5 job, and never started back up, but I always had a soft spot for the show, my favorite guilty pleasure.
Of course, even if you've never watched a second of AMC, you've got to be aware of Erica Kane, the grande dame of the show, a mega cultural icon.
