Inspired By: Sloane Peterson

When I saw Ferris Bueller's Day Off in the theater in 1986, I was eleven years old, and I wanted to be Ferris' girlfriend, Sloane Peterson, so bad. Not because she was dating Ferris, but because she was gorgeous and stylish and funny and spunky and just so cool.

And look at her. Over 25 years later, she doesn't look too out of date. Her hair is soft and natural, not the permed, teased, Aqua-Netted mess that most teens rocked in the 80's. Her fringed jacket, her shorts her boots... well, if the proportions were a bit different, I could picture this outfit totally working today.

Here's how I'd update Sloane's outfit for 2012.
