Inspired By: Wet Hot American Summer

I recently rewatched Wet Hot American Summer for the first time in several years, and I still love it. It's a spoof of all of those camp movies from the 70's and 80's, and it's completely ridiculous. It's a movie that polarizes a lot of people (most who watch it either love it or hate it), but as someone who spent many childhood and teen summers at overnight camp, I will always have a place in my heart for this movie. Plus, the cast is just ridiculous: it starred Paul Rudd, Amy Poehler, Christopher Meloni, Elizabeth Banks, and Bradley Cooper before they all became super-famous, and a ton of other lesser-known but still hilarious people.

But when I watched this again last week, maybe it's because of my spring fever, but I was struck by the cute, casual camp clothes that everyone was sporting. I know that the movie takes place in 1981, but the fashions, whether preppy, sporty, boho, or a little bit rock and roll, are all still very easily translatable to 2012.

So, since warm weather's a-comin', here are some easy fashions inspired by Camp Firewood.
