Halloween Costume: Miley Cyrus at the VMAs (with bonus Robin Thicke costume)

It's not quite October yet, but I'm starting a bit early this year with Halloween costumes, because I couldn't wait! To kick off this Halloween season, here's a costume to celebrate one of the most memorable (and cringe-inducing) pop culture events of 2013 - Miley twerking at the VMAs.

This costume requires a lot of self-confidence and a sense of humor. But if you've got it, go for it! And if you want to go as a couple's costume, just have your counterpart buy a Beetlejuice costume and wear it with a black shirt, black sneakers, a whistle necklace, and aviators.

Bra/Panties $8 // Sneakers $25 // Foam Finger $52 (or DIY your own) // Necklace $14 // Lipstick $10 // Wig $13

Celebrity Look for Less: Miley Cyrus Style

Miley has really embraced her new edgier style, and I'm surprised to find how much I like it. Here's a similar black sweater and leopard jeans combo for less.

Sweater $22 // Pants $35 // Belt $23 // Shoes $25 // Sunglasses $20 // Ear Cuff $11

Under $100: Miley Cyrus Style

Miley does her best 90's era grunge look with high-top sneakers and a red flannel shirt. Here is a similar look that won't break the bank.

Shirt $14 // Dress $24 // Sneakers $24 // Bag $15 // Necklace $3 // Sunglasses $9

Fashion Redemption: Miley Cyrus

I've got so many bad outfit photos saved on my desktop that I'm going to do a different Fashion Redemption post every night this week.

To kick it off, Miley here looks like she's supposed to be on the cover of a Harlequin romance novel that takes place in the Old West. I don't know, maybe I'm a prude but I think that there's a place for a bare midriff and that place is the beach. On a positive note, though, I am loving her shorter hair. I wish more stars would take Miley's lead and give the ratty extensions a rest.

Here is something that's a bit less "do me in the saloon bathroom" and more red carpet ready.

Fashion Redemption: Miley Cyrus

This is not okay.

It might be okay in certain circumstances, if those circumstances were that she was working a stripper pole in a biker bar. In 1988.  But as is? A world of NO.

Let's cover Miley up, shall we?

P.S. Can't unsee the camel toe. Now, neither can you.

Fashion Redemption: Miley Cyrus

Well, the good news is that Miley wore this on her 18th birthday, which at least means that she is not dressing like this as an underage child. The bad news is that she is still dressing like this, period. And it's bad.

Here is a much more appropriate outfit. It costs $93.10.

Fashion Redemption: Miley Cyrus

I don't mean to keep picking on old Miley, but she keeps giving me reasons not to stop! I mean, seriously - is she a Los Angeles teenager circa 2010 or a Tulsa Oklahoma rodeo groupie from the early 80's? A bit of western influence is trendy and cute but this is just costumey and trashy.

Here's something much classier, but still casual. It costs $94.30.

Fashion Redemption: Miley Cyrus

Miley must have gotten dressed in the dark. After skinning a cheetah.

Here is a look that is much more chic and coordinated. It costs $83.08.

Fashion Redemption: Miley Cyrus

Destiny Hope Cyrus, you put on a real shirt this instant! You are not 18 for another month, young lady, and there is no reason for you to be running around town in your underwear!

Ahem. Sorry, I got a bit carried away. Sometimes with these young starlets, (coughTaylorMomsencough), I just want to find their mothers and shake some sense into them

Here's a much more appropriate look for a teenager. It costs $99.80.

Fashion Redemption: Miley Cyrus

Wow. Just...wow. I really don't know what to make of this. From the waist up, Miley looks like she's working her corner, and from the waist down, she looks like Linda Richman.

Here is an outfit that is more presentable and age-appropriate, for exactly $100.
